Mekhela Chadar is a traditional two-piece garment worn by women in Assam. The mekhela (lower drape) is pleated like a skirt, while the chadar (upper drape) is wrapped over the shoulder. Made from silk (Muga, Eri, Tussar, or Mulberry) or cotton, it features intricate handwoven designs, often inspired by Assamese culture.
