The Sirohi goat is a popular Indian breed from Rajasthan, known for its adaptability, good weight gain, and dual-purpose use for milk and meat, characterized by a brown coat with darker patches, medium drooping ears, small upward-curving horns, and strong build, thriving in tough conditions with good disease resistance. Prized for tender, flavourful meat, excellent for dual-purpose farming. Good milk yield, even in poor conditions, averaging 1-2 litres/day. Highly resilient to hot, dry climates and resistant to common goat diseases. Kidding usually once or twice yearly, often singles, sometimes twins. Originating from the Sirohi district of Rajasthan, India it is Valued for both meat (mutton) and milk production.
