The Casuarina (like C. equisetifolia, or Australian Pine) is a fast-growing, evergreen tree with a pine-like appearance, known for its feathery, needle-like branchlets, straight trunk, and high adaptability to poor, sandy, and saline soils, making it excellent for coastal windbreaks, soil stabilization, firewood, pulp, and scaffolding, with nitrogen-fixing roots that enrich the soil. Its hard, durable wood is valued for fuel, charcoal, and construction, despite being difficult to work with for fine furniture.
