Description : Red Sandalwood (pterocarpus Santalinus) Is A Slow-growing, Medium-sized, Deciduous Tree Native To The Southern Regions Of India, Known For Its Highly Valued, Deep Red Heartwood. It Is Characterized By A Dark, Fissured Bark Resembling Crocodile Skin, A Dense Crown, And Trifoliate Or Rarely Pentafoliate Leaves. The Tree Produces Small Yellow Flowers And A Round, Winged Fruit. Its Heartwood Is Rich In Compounds Used In Traditional Medicine, Natural Dyes, And Woodworking, But The Species Is Protected Due To High Demand And Illegal Logging.
